Saving Lives, One Patient at a Time

enewsheader_surgeriesAccess to affordable health care in rural India is a dream most villagers never come to realize. Those struggling with cancer, polio, cleft palettes and more have no access to the surgery that could easily save their lives.

India Gospel League focuses primarily on cancer surgery, as well as some other general surgeries. Though small in scope, IGL’s surgery ministry is an integral part of its medical ministry. The surgeries performed through IGL and the care and love given to the patients have saved countless lives from not only pain and suffering in this life but also in the next.

One patient recently experienced overwhelming compassion from the staff at IGL.

Faritha had been suffering from thyroid problems for a year, causing her thyroid to swell and making it difficult for her to swallow. Her husband, a bicycle repairman, was already struggling to feed his family, let alone pay for the surgery his wife needed. As the pain steadily increased, an IGL pastor in her village took her to the free surgery screening camp provided by Sharon Hospital, and several days later she was able to receive the surgery she needed. Before leaving Sharon Hospital, she thanked the staff with tearful eyes and told them that she would have died from the pain without their intervention.

IGL’s staff became the hands and feet of Christ for Faritha, treating her with love and compassion and bringing her to tears.

Will you consider helping IGL reach those who have nowhere else to turn?
