Stand Firm Against Evil

“In my old life I would have taken a gun and shot you, but because I have accepted Christ, I am able to talk with you now.”

– Ajith, a redeemed murderer

Ajith’s life changed dramatically when he was rescued from the domain of darkness and brought into the kingdom of God. Instead of ending lives, he became the bearer of the Good News of eternal life! He went from village to village sharing his story of redemption with anyone who would listen, and even those who wouldn’t.

Soon after his conversion, a radical religious group was visiting villages nearby and demanded the Christians reconvert to Hinduism. The group took Christians to the Hindu temples and shaved their heads and forced them to worship the idols. Out of fear for their lives and their families, several Christians complied.

Then the radical group came to the Ajith’s home village and tried to reconvert him. But they were not prepared for his response:

“If you want me to come back to my old life, my old nature, my old religion, I will take a gun and shoot you [because] that is part of the person that I was. God changed my life, my attitudes. So don’t ask me to come back, don’t reconvert me, if you reconvert me you will not go away alive.”

The persecutors left the village defeated, and the Lord Almighty triumphed again! But the struggle Christians face around the world continues.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

November 1 and 8 are dedicated to remembering and praying for the persecuted church around the world. We ask that you keep the churches in South Asia in your prayers because persecution is occurring daily. Please check our Facebook page for more stories of persecution and prayer requests for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church.
