Is Now the Opportune Time?

July 13th, 2016 by | | Posted in Field Updates, Opportunities

When Jesus walked the earth, he repeatedly said, “My time has not yet come.” Then, when the right – opportune – time came, he said, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” (John 12:23) Jesus had a “Kairos moment” (an opportune time) at the end of his life – the right time, God’s perfect time for him to become a ransom for many. Then Jesus passed this kairos moment on and the apostle Paul encourages us: “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the [kairos], because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)

This is a charge we cannot afford to ignore either. In his new book, The Kairos Moment, Sam Stephens describes the kairos moment in South Asia today – where doors are open, where people are receptive. In the last 25 years, India has witnessed a time of Jesus is being glorified through the rapid expansion of His kingdom! A great spiritual awakening is sweeping across the whole region of South Asia. In the last two decades in India, it is estimated that more than 30 million people have come to Christ. There are nearly 8,000 baptisms every day!

When we hear numbers like these, facts like these, when we hear about how God is moving, what do we do? How do we respond? Sam’s book encourages us to seize the opportunities God is presenting to the church today!
