An unexpected opportunity to advance the gospel came as a result of a devastating earthquake in Nepal. In April 2015, the small mountain nation to the north of India was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, killing or injuring more than 30,000 people. In the wake of the devastation, IGL ministered across the border, providing for both physical and spiritual needs.

Today, we are excited to say that fifty pastors from Nepal have joined IGL’s Vision 2000* movement! This expansion allows us to directly serve three nations: India, Sri Lanka and now, Nepal. Monthly meetings have been conducted in this new region since July 2015, equipping pastors and leaders to multiply their ministry work.

Here is one woman’s story:

“My sister, Kavitha, was oppressed by an evil spirit. She covered her face with a black cloth. I invited Pastor David to pray for her and there was a great battle. But she sat and listened to the word of God. He shared the love of Christ with her and she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Thus, her life was transformed and she started to live a new life with Jesus.” – Tabitha, Kavitha’s sister (Nepal)

*Vision 2000 is a church planting movement initiated by India Gospel League in 1992. It was originally comprised of 200 pastors in Tamil Nadu who set a goal to plant one new church per year. Today, thousands of pastors have joined this vision, meet regularly for fellowship and training, and have together planted more than 85,000 congregations.
