John 7:37-38

In the grueling hot Indian summers, with temperatures regularly reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, water can become a scarce commodity, especially in rural villages. This summer is no exception and as a result, at least 330 million people face water shortages or significant difficulties with their water supplies.

Rivers have been slowly drying up and reservoirs are at their lowest capacity in more than a decade due to the lack of rainfall. The government has been sending tankers full of clean drinking water to hundreds of villages, but is struggling to meet the ever-increasing need.

In one rural village where IGL ministers, a tanker delivered a fresh supply of water once a week, providing enough water for drinking and some for cooking. Water for washing and cleaning was out of the question. The local government had previously drilled a couple of wells, but they only produced water during the winter months. During the summer, the village people painstakingly rationed their water between deliveries and hoped there will be enough to last. The more affluent in the village have their own water wells, but refused to share with the rest of the village, leaving the poor to fend for themselves.

Then, as an answer to prayer, a well was donated and built through India Gospel League to supply the village with fresh drinking water year-round! After completion, the local pastor and his church gathered around the newly dug well to thank the Lord for his provision and to pray the well will be used to point people to Christ, the source of living water.
