Care For The Sick
In many poverty-stricken and remote villages across South Asia, medical care is unavailable. Those in need of care often have to walk many kilometers to receive basic treatments and lower-caste villagers most likely will be unable to pay for necessary services. In light of this, IGL provides free or affordable medical care through village clinics.
At our main headquarters in Salem, Tamil Nadu, we operate the Sharon Community Hospital, which provides a wide-range of treatments, including surgery and cancer care. We also have a bus of medical supplies and equipment that we deploy to remote villages throughout India to conduct health screenings and trainings and resources like basic prescriptions and eyeglasses. We also host teams of medical professionals from around the world who volunteer their services directly.
Now we also have a Palliative Care Center to help meet the overwhelming needs in rural India. An estimated six million people need palliative care in India every year. Yet only one percent of them have access to it. Our new Palliative Care Center was built to help close this gap. You can check out the website here!
